The Internship

Group Black is seeking our second class of students for our Summer Internship Program for June 2023. The paid internship will offer an exciting 10-week development opportunity with our growing media start-up. Students will be an important part of a fast-paced, cross-functional team, supporting our KPIs. 

We are looking for collaborative and creative interns who are eager to learn about Group Black and the dynamic Media industry. Reporting directly to a member of the leadership team, you will gain both experience and exposure to our Group Black partners and media strategies. There is a great deal of responsibility, but also an abundance of training and mentorship throughout your time with us.

Summer Internship dates: June 12, 2023 - August 18, 2023. All candidates must be willing to work 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday with their assigned department. Students are chosen from all majors, from freshmen through graduate students. The ideal candidate will have intellectual curiosity and will be interested in helping our mission!

Your Day-to-Day: 

  • As the Sales Intern, you will support the Revenue team in operations effectiveness, while learning about the revenue engine as it supports an organization. 
  • Help your team with thinking about Sales strategy.
  • Learn and share tools and processes that can be used amongst the team.
  • Work on high-visibility projects focused on key initiatives within the Sales department.
  • Own and manage follow-up items designated by your internship supervisor.
  • Assist in analyzing current business and apply lessons learned to optimize future opportunities.
  • Attend meetings and take/distribute notes and other administrative support tasks.
  • Create and maintain documents, presentations, and other assets that apply to your role.
  • Perform research, ad-hoc tasks, and special projects at a supervisor's request.
  • Learn and utilize different software, programs, and systems. 

Key Projects: 

  • Help enhance the structure and organization of the Sales team’s internal resources such as Google Drive, Notion, etc., and work on Salesforce pipeline management.  
  • Work on presentation decks, help the team stay organized, and bring a new perspective to brainstorming with team members to find new ways to stay culturally relevant in the market.
  • At the end of the internship,  you will present your learning and development experience to the company during a cross-functional meeting.

What you bring to the team:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.
  • Passion for media, entertainment, and all aspects of sales facets and functions.
  • Understanding of Salesforce.
  • High organizational skills with project management.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, growing, and changing environment.
  • Understanding of collaborative tools (Slack & Google).
  • Microsoft Suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Confidently maintain high levels of confidentiality while preparing information and executing projects.
  • Strong communication with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills.
  • Well-versed in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Previous internship experience and on-campus involvement, are a plus.

As a graduate student,  the hourly rate band for this opportunity is ($20-$25/hr).
