Overview of the role
Volunteers are central to The Trevor Projectâs ability to fulfill our mission. As the Manager of International Volunteer Recruitment you will be responsible for leading all aspects of volunteer recruitment to support The Trevor Projectâs international growth. Located remotely in the U.S., you will manage a global team of Volunteer Recruitment Operations Managers who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of volunteer recruitment, selection, and screening in Trevor locations outside of the U.S. This team is currently being built and in this role, you will be responsible for scoping roles in collaboration with other staff from each country, adapting volunteer intake and screening models to work in different country and cultural contexts, and working cross-functionally to meet objectives and key results - all to ensure volunteer applicants are screened and onboarded in a supportive and efficient way that meets the needs and realities in their country.
This new role will be tasked with translating current systems and processes in order to adapt them to each countriesâ specific needs, all while maintaining focus on The Trevor Projectâs service model and driving towards desired goals and outcomes.

What you'll do
- Lead all aspects of volunteer recruitment in countries outside of the U.S., working in close collaboration with in-country leaders and national staff
- Contribute to shaping the overall strategy for international volunteer recruitment as the organization embarks on its expansion efforts
- Ensure international volunteer goals are being met by working with local stakeholders and teams
- Manage a global team of Volunteer Recruitment Operations Managers, each with their own team of staff in-country
- Ensure the day-to-day operations needed for all stages of high volume volunteer selection and intake, including application review, coordinating and conducting interviews, processing background checks, tracking applicant progress, and communicating with applicants along their recruitment and onboarding journey are running smoothly and efficiently in each country
- Monitor progress towards weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual goals and KPIs to ensure in-country teams have what they need to meet volunteer recruitment goals
- Initiate and manage projects in collaboration with the US volunteer recruitment team that contribute to the overall success of volunteer recruitment in each country (e.g., sourcing volunteers from the US to cover needs in other countries)
- Build a culture of continuous improvement on your team to ensure volunteer applicant intake and screening processes are reviewed and evaluated on an ongoing basis
- Ensure policies and procedures are up-to-date so that prospective applicants in each country have a clear understanding of expectations at the onset of their experience
- Ensure background check systems are set up and tailored to meet the specific needs in each country, which will include managing relationships with background check vendors and initiating new contracts
- Work cross functionally to carry out process improvements related to volunteer recruitment, onboarding and screening
- Clearly articulate to external audiences Trevorâs mission, the work that we do, and the opportunities for incredible people to volunteer with Team Trevor
- Work closely with Volunteer Recruitment department colleagues to capture learning from volunteer operations in and outside of the U.S. and to share progress updates on Trevor's international volunteer efforts
